Hironori Matsuo

Hironori Matsuo is a partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. From 2009 to 2015, he worked in the Civil Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, where he was engaged in the legislative project to amend the Civil Code (Law of Obligations).
He has extensive experience advising domestic and international financial institutions on the structuring, negotiation and documentation of a broad range of banking transactions, and regularly counsels financial institutions on compliance and corporate governance matters. Drawing on his experience in drafting the amendments to the Civil Code (Law of Obligations) during his secondment to the Ministry of Justice, he also advises business corporations on contractual issues arising in a wide range of commercial transactions and represents clients in disputes and litigation. In addition, he advises on, and represents clients in litigation involving, terms of use and data-related matters, particularly in the TMT (Technology, Media and Telecommunications) sector, drawing on his deep understanding of civil code and consumer law.
