Tsutomu Kobayashi is primarily involved in the areas of development and operation of energy projects including solar, onshore/offshore wind, biomass and other renewable energy power generation projects and thermal IPP projects, and infrastructure projects including PFI/PPP projects, as well as project financing for such projects, and is also involved in acquisition finance, real estate finance, leasing and other structured finance transactions.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, he worked at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd. (currently MUFG Bank, Ltd.). He was seconded to Baker McKenzie’s London Office and to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Europe Limited (currently SMBC Bank International plc), London, where he was involved in the project financing for the energy projects. He was also seconded to the legal department of Shinsei Bank, Limited (currently SBI Shinsei Bank, Limited), Tokyo, where he was engaged in general legal work on banking business.
