Power Generation/Renewable Energy
We have extensive experience in various power generation projects in Japan and overseas, and represent foreign and domestic project operators/sponsors, construction contractors and financiers, providing the full range of legal services. This includes advising on structuring investment schemes and project financing and on operating, financing, and investing in IPP projects. We provide legal advice to utility companies, trading companies, renewable energy companies, construction companies, and financial institutions concerning energy law matters, and have been involved in numerous domestic and cross-border transactions. We are also involved in many thermal power plant projects with low environmental impact, which have been developed to meet the changing finance conditions and replacement demand associated with the deregulation of electric utilities and the tightening of regulations aimed at lowering carbon emissions.
Since the introduction of the Japanese “Feed-in-tariff” law in 2011, our practice team has been providing legal advice to many investors, financial institutions, and others in renewable energy projects. These projects have included wind farm, offshore wind farm, biomass, geo thermal, and many mega solar projects. We continuously and timely monitor complex regulations regarding renewable energy and their amendments, and are capable of arranging a project team with a high level of expertise for each project or transaction.
