Background
On November 17, 2020, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed the new Law on Environmental Protection (LOEP 2020) that will take effect from January 1, 2022 (Effective Date) and replace the old Law on Environmental Protection 2014 (LOEP 2014). Under the LOEP 2020, investment projects are classified into different groups that are subject to different requirements in respect of environmental approvals and permits.
