Wataru Matsumoto is a partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. He handles a broad range of corporate/M&A matters including private and public acquisitions, corporate mergers and demergers, carve-out transactions, capital and strategic alliances, start-up investments and joint-ventures, with a particular focus on cross-cultural transactions where he has been representing both domestic and international clients.

He regularly advises multinational and domestic companies on various aspects of Japanese laws including general corporate, insolvency and liquidation, dispute resolutions, intellectual property, real estate transactions, foreign investment regulations, employment, data privacy, and various regulatory matters.

Wataru graduated from the University of Tokyo (LL.B.), the University of Tokyo School of Law (J.D.) and the Oxford Saïd Business School (MBA), and worked as a foreign counsel at Travers Smith in London. He was also seconded to Komatsu Ltd., a global manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, solidifying his notable strength in transactions in which business and legal matters intersect.
