The Asian market has become more important for corporate activities, and Japanese companies are rapidly accelerating their business expansion in Asia. On the other hand, there are still many countries that have not yet fully established legal and judicial systems or a sound basis for the provision of legal services by law firms. There are also countries in which laws and regulations are frequently enacted and revised or abolished as their economies grow rapidly. In addition, the legal systems of Asian countries differ significantly depending on their economic, social and historical backgrounds. Thus, legal advice based on the latest local information for each country is essential.
Our Tokyo office has organized a group called the “Asia Practice Group (APG)” that focuses on supporting Japanese companies in their activities in the Asia region, and it has been providing legal services across Asia, specifically in China, India, and other Southeast Asian countries. Furthermore, our Singapore office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Singapore LLP), which is the local hub for our Asia practice, Bangkok office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (Thailand) Co., Ltd.), HCMC office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu HCMC Branch), Hanoi office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Hanoi Branch), Jakarta office (IM & Partners in association with Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu) and Shanghai office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Shanghai Representative Office) provide prompt legal services based on the latest local information in alliance with the APG. Moreover, the expertise obtained through collaborative relationships over the years including co-operative alliances and interaction with prominent law firms in Asia have brought beneficial insight in providing appropriately customized legal services to each client.
